Dean Edwards Smith is an icon in the state of North Carolina…. Smith is best known for his successful 36-year coaching tenure at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Smith coached from 1961 to 1997 and retired as the NCAA Division I men’s basketball record-holder for victories (879), a record which was surpassed by Bob Knight in 2007 and Mike Krzyzewski in 2010. Smith has the 9th highest winning percentage of any men’s college basketball coach (77.6%).
Despite Smith’s leftist political leanings, I have a limitless admiration for this man. If I had walked into an athletic facility and seen Dean Smith violating a young boy, I would have died trying to kill him on the spot. Most likely he would have survived, and if I HAD SURVIVED, my first stop would have been the police station, and I would have made it my life’s work seeing that he spent the rest of HIS life behind bars.
In 2002, the Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary saw what ‘he thought’ was Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach under the legendary Joe Paterno, having anal sex with a young boy in the shower in the football facility.
McQueary is a piece of shit and I will never understand why he didn’t kill Sandusky on the spot. I will also never understand how he has been able to close his eyes at night after witnessing that act AND CALLING HIS FATHER to ask what to do! May he roast in hell!
The Penn State head coach was told about Sandusky, who founded a CHARITY TO HELP AT-RISK BOYS in 1977. This was nothing more than his own personal shopping center for young boys to molest – a smorgasbord for his perverse proclivity for raping kids. Paterno knew and gave his tacit approval by simply passing the information up the totem pole, rather than calling the authorities. Paterno is a piece of shit who deserves to be butt-fucked in hell forever. University (fired) President Graham Spanier was told of these crimes and also did nothing. He is a piece of shit and should be bent over in hell next to Paterno.
Sandusky is receiving a $58,898 annual pension from Penn State for his ‘services’ . Sandusky retired from his assistant coaching position in 1999, but retained coach “emeritus” status and access to Penn State facilities. Upon his retirement, he chose to take a $148,271 lump-sum pension payment from the State Employees’ Retirement System.
I hope his ‘service’ includes life without chance of parole, sharing a cell with ‘Daddy’ in a remote corner of the nearest federal pen.
Athletic Director Tim Curley and senior vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz met with McQueary, who told them what he saw. Curley and Schultz never report the incident to authorities. Another pair of fucking scumbags who should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This was also in 2002.
Nine years later, this filthy scandal rises to the surface. NINE YEARS! Sandusky is ‘said’ to have molested 15 boys since 1977. Anyone who thinks the number is only 15, please raise your hand. And today, District Judge Leslie Dutchcot, who handled Sandusky’s preliminary arraignment, gave his Second Mile charity between $500 and $1,000 and worked as a volunteer for the charity, freed Sandusky on $100,000 unsecured bail. Sandusky went shopping.
None of the good old boys called the police. Despicable! Students are protesting Paterno’s firing. Despicable! The only people in State College, PA with anything approaching morals are the trustees of the University.
Below is a link to the timeline of this scandal, spanning from 1969 when Sandusky was hired, to this past week when Paterno and Spanier were fired. If you have any questions, ask me what I REALLY think about this.
Ever hear of a blogger named Rod Dreher?
He’s had a lot to say about Penn State. Might be a good place to post.

Thanks for the link, John…… excellent blog
I thought you might like it.
Gee, thanks for this blog FIREBIRD. I would have never heard about this otherwise. Also, I see you are joining the other 200 million people patting themselves on the back for what they would have done.

WOW Kim – you really should come out from under your rock more often – there’s a world of things happening outside of your small mind
Uh, FIREBIRD I was being ironic.. I happen to listen to a sportstalk radio station all day, and this has been by far the biggest topic for the last week. Same on Dreher’s blog. Half the calls and comments seem to be from blowhards saying what they would if they caught Sandusky in flagranus delicto.
Uh, FIREBIRD I was being ironic.. Why, my goodness! So was I, Kim.
David Brooks punditates on the issue with which the identity-challenged Kim Margosein berates our good FIREBIRD, above.
(For those still unsatisfied, there is a mirror-gazing-into-mirror thingy to be leapt into here with respect to Brooks’ own second-guessing and whatever vanity one might reasonably attach to it.)

While I am horrified by the events and disgusted by the behavior of the various adults involved, I am also disturbed by your promoting rape as a form of punishment. Even if you’re just being hyperbolic – would it be okay to suggest that a woman be raped repeatedly in prison as part of her punishment? Why is it okay to suggest that for men whatever their crime?
I am also disturbed by your promoting rape as a form of punishment
Am I the only one around here who spends more time defending what I write rather than writing?
Dear Sara – it’s NOT ok to suggest rape as a punishment for a crime – I WAS aspiring to use hyperbole, perhaps wrongly, to state that these perverts deserve to get exactly what they gave – or, in other words, there is no punishment that fits these crimes….. my apologies for disturbing you.
I know that’s not the main point of your post, but I have noticed that idea mentioned frequently as of late. Often as a joke except it’s not actually funny.
Dear friends, I have been overflowing with prayers of gratitude that the world situation is so tranquil that the news media can spend all their time on a minor sports coach’s fall from grace. The only OTHER good thing to have come my way as a result of all this coverage is that I finally found out what Nitanny is.
Laughing at your view of the ‘tranquil world’…. I Love it! But we both know the mainstream media will do ANYTHING to keep the Operation Gunrunner and the Solyndra scandals off the front page – even if it means dragging innocents from obscurity to beg them of confirmation of crimes against nature….. and so goes the news from the left

My good FIREBIRD,
Apparently not entirely. In fact, one of the M-est of the MSM seems to be violently exclaiming Ah…Chu!
Steven Chu was sent out, while Obama was in Honolulu, Asia and told to fall on the sword for the King, and to do it before the King came back to the Palace…. seems it worked, don’t you think?
Glenn Kessler has done some good work in the past – there are all sorts of journalistic awards and Pulitzers just waiting to be scooped up for anyone seriously examining this administration. Where are Woodward and Bernstein when you need ‘em.
For the ‘here in Asia’ comment by this president, zip to minute marker 35:00… Seems ABC edited this one out of the written transcript – it’s good to be king….
