Raising Awareness…

Male students at Western Kentucky University walked a mile in red high heels to raise awareness about violence against women. (Video at link.) I wonder if they’re aware that men are murdered at four times the rate of women in 2008. I’ve never seen nor heard of any march, walk, wearing of a certain color, poop-in to raise awareness of violence against men, even though men are slightly more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than women, and much more likely to be murdered. I guess we all know that but, somehow, are blissfully unaware that women ever fall victim to violent crime, although you can barely look out your window without seeing a reminder of that or breast cancer awareness.
18-24 year olds, male and females combined, are the age group most likely to be murdered. Blacks are murdered six times as often as whites. 93% of blacks murdered are murdered by another black person. 84% of white murder victims were murdered by a white.

In 2008, young adults (18 to 24 years old) had the highest victimization rate in each racial and sex group.
In 2008, black males age 18 to 24 years-old had the highest homicide victimization rate (91.1 homicides per 100,000). Th at rate was more than double the rate for black males age 25 or older (38.4 homicides per 100,000) and almost triple the rate for black males age 14 to 17 (31.4 homicides per 100,000).
Among white women age 18 to 24, the rate declined from 5.5 homicides per 100,000 in 1980 to 2.6 per 100,000 in 2008

More awareness: Women often wear silly, highly uncomfortable shoes. If you’re a young male college student, wearing those shoes around and acting like you care about women might get you laid. This may be the heart of the drive for men to support awareness of obvious women’s issues. What the hell is it  with women and shoes? Is it some sort of soul cleansing ritual to wear shoes that hurt and deform your feet? Do you kid yourself that you’re doing it for a man or men? A few week ago,  I went to a semi-dressy event for my son’s football team. His girlfriend, unlike many other girls, wore flats. I hope they end up getting married.

Some women go nuts and get violent because evolution is killing black peole.  Well, at least one woman. (Hilarious video from a college classroom. Thank God for cellphones that take video.)

I guess this is an empathy overload day for me. Too many things to be aware of and to care about. I have a few problems of my own and no one, except my kids and a few others, really gives a shit. So, I’m resolving it all myself. I’m increasing awareness that the one sure way to resolve problems in my life is through my own action. The one sure way to change the world is to change myself. You can do the same. Encourage others to do likewise, teach them to fish. I’m so frickin’ sick of my awareness being raised, I want to gargle on razor blades and wash it down with a  turpentine cocktail.

Be aware out there. ;)

Do you know what would be worse though? Getting raped.

??? Stupid comment to the max. You think I’m not aware people get epared? You’re comment is so stupid I don’t know where to start or end. Do I need to explain to you how getting murdered is worse than getting epared? Do you know that? Maybe we need to explore whether being pummeled half to death is worse than simple epar. That could be debated, as stupid as it would be.

What about statutory epar? Is is worse for an adult male to have consensual sex with a 15 year old, or for an adult female to have sex with a 15 year old? Is it worse if the sex is homosexual or heterosexual. Are YOU AWARE that male victims of statutory epar have been forced to child support for the child resulting from that epar?

What about prison epar? The Human Rights Watch estimates 140,000 incidents of prison epar in the U.S. each year. Yet, people joke about it all the time and seem to accept it as part of a sentence. “He was sentenced to 5 years and 20 epars for his crime.”

Are you aware that 15,020 MEN were reported to have been epared in 2010? (BJS) Do you wonder how many men were epared and didn’t report it out of embarrassment?

Are you aware that stupid comments like your make me care less about what ever it is you’re commenting on? Did you know a preposition is something you never end a sentence in?

    • Stupid comment to the max. You think I’m not aware people get epared?

Is your first sentence a preface for the rest of what you wrote? I was commenting on your whining. You’re boo-hooing that people are telling you about their problems. Get a grip.

Just another reason for vouchers, firing them all and starting over, etc.

That’s brilliant. Where exactly will all these new teachers come from when you “start over”?

This is how a school in Texas handles rape: Work it out with your rapist. Funny how many schools think they’re above or exempt from the law. Just another reason for vouchers, firing them all and starting over, etc.
