The UK has become the repressive hell hole they fought so hard to prevent 70 years ago. I won’t go into the details of the UK’s repressive laws. Pointing out one interesting tidbit will suffice today: despite draconian gun laws, the UK suffers for violent crime than the U.S., a lot more.

This story from The Telegraph in 2009 points out the UK is the violent crime capital of Europe.

A breakdown of the statistics, which were compiled into league tables by the Conservatives, revealed that violent crime in the UK had increased from 652,974 offences in 1998 to more than 1.15 million crimes in 2007.

It means there are over 2,000 crimes recorded per 100,000 population in the UK, making it the most violent place in Europe.

From The Blaze today in a story highlighting a Cincinnati newsman’s fact checking (video at link):

“When you break down the apples to apples comparison of violent crime rates between the U.S. and Britain — in 2010, the U.S. had 403 incidents per 100,000 people,” Swann said in the clip. “The violent crime rate in Britain, while difficult to pin down, is at least 776 per 100,000 people. It’s still nearly twice the rate as the U.S.”

Of course, violent criminals feel more embolden when the potential consequences of their violent acts is minimized.  Let’s not forget the right to bear arms is a right for reasons of self protection and resisting oppressive governments amongst other things. Let’s not forget or ignore that nearly everything the anti-gun nuts have said is a lie or based on ignorance. Mostly, they’re another group wanting to take away your freedom.

Below is the link to the article from which he got his fact checked article. It goes into much more detail. The 776 number was the highest possible estimate. The author places the more likely number closer to 250. Their murder rate, generally the most accurate among violent crime, is 1/4 of ours. The author also notes, not really new to those who follow the data, that the UK violent crime rate has been dropping since the early 90s. The gun law they passed in 1997 did not alter that drop.

Of note, for those who like trivia, the Brits include air guns in their reports on gun crime. If Johnny gets caught toting his Airsoft around outside where he shouldn’t, that counts as a gun crime.

When this guy broke it down, he got America’s crime rate to be 7.5 times that. America includes aggravated assault, nonnegilgent manslaughter, rape, robbery and murder. England has far more included as violent crime including ‘harassment and verbal assaults’. Anybody that’s been to England knows that is not true.

Assuming it is true that the UK is more violent than the US (which may or may not be the case), doesn’t it make more rather than less sense to have gun control? Arming violent people sounds like a very bad idea. When the kids don’t play nice, the adults have to take away their toys.

Wait till some psycho comes at you in your home and they got a gun they got off the black market. You’ll want one then too, especially if your families in the house. Funny thing is, Switzerland is one of the highest rated at gun ownership right behind us in the states and they have less violent crime then anyone. Not cause their laws are different but there’s no one telling them they can’t use them. Crime only pays in countries with gun control. That is a proven fact. PLUS in England, you’re not even allowed to defend yourself or your home. So you might as well just let them kill ya cause you’ll be the one going to prison. Sure they might get hit for going into your house but you’ll be the one charged when their on the floor bleeding. And this person has their facts a little off as well. any time PHYSICAL implications are made to a person it’s a violent crime. But either way sure they might have you on the ground to rape you but if you fight back, it don’t matter what the law is about their rape crimes, if you grab some thing and hit them in the head to get them off you, you get attempted murder. So no, their laws are so screwed up if some one attacks you, you’re probably just better off dead anyway. Which if we lose 2nd amendment, we will be well on our way to the same BS.

What ever, as long as the UK has a law that you can;t defend yourself at all even if that just means punching back, anything that some one can do to you is a violent crime. Fact is any law maker that would make a law that you can’t defend yourself should be treated the same as the ones that cause the crime.
