When is “epistemic closure” epistemic closure and when is it simply the devaluation of skepticism or a case of sour grapes over failing to make the factual, argumentative or rhetorical sale?

Teacher: Where is your homework?
Student: The dog ate my homework.
Teacher: I find that hard to believe.
Student: You are clearly suffering from epistemic closure.

Him: Just the tip, I swear.
Her: Hmmph. Right.
Him: You are clearly suffering from epistemic closure.

A: I believe X.
B: Sorry, it will take more than that to convince me to believe X.
A: You are clearly suffering from epistemic closure.

    Oops. At first I thought of the stitches a doctor makes after a episiotomy. That’s an important closure.

      Right, I thought it was some kind of surgical procedure at first too, but I figured it was probably connected to the upper respiratory system.
